Make A Fake Fireplace

Controversy for the exhibition of Eric Ledune in Mouscron.

Centre Marius Staquet Controversy Mouscron for the exhibition of Eric Ledune entitled "Ledune made his thousand meters." Summary of facts with a section of the RTBF followed by reaction of the artist.

Mouscron: Close this sex .... 10/28/2008
live controversy Mouscron where part of the exhibition of painter Eric Ledune videographer was simply put under lock. Despite the initial agreement of Head of visual arts cultural center of Mouscron and multiple precautions against minors, the alderman of the culture has decided to filter access to the room containing the disputed works ....

The purpose of the scandal: 11 large paintings depicting sex and erotic poses shown in the secrecy of a closed space enclosed by a black curtain on which a text warning the public of the particular images, all planned and the artist and the curator of the exhibition.

The challenge to the propriety would go anywhere for a friendly prank. Mouscron but we obviously do not joke with these things. In any case, what that says Michel Franceus, Alderman cdH culture and guardian of the moral order for the many children who attend the center. With the exhibition manager, he simply put the works under padlock. What possible force the amateur out of the building to ask for the key of "shameful place" ...

The reaction of the artist:

For once, I must give you a rather sad news ... and amazing!
Nearly a month and a half before the scheduled end of it, I am compelled to close and dismantle my big exhibition made its Ledune thousand feet "!

Some already know the whole story, but to summarize quickly, "daring paintings" which were sidelined the rest of the exhibition in a black box of 6 x 6 meters. The latter was closed by a curtain and detachable chain, in addition to multiple warnings to sensitive people and full of prohibitions under 18 years, off and on in the exhibition. Now this work can be found in the initial configuration provided by the organizers and myself! Indeed, in addition to all these precautions seem ridiculous than elsewhere Mouscron, Centre Marius Staquet was added without my knowledge (!), A door and a padlock symbol at the entrance to the "black box"! ! This means that besides the multitude of warnings of any kind, visitors wishing to see "Hell is hidden in the Holy of Holies" should emerge from the exhibition to get the key the padlock to the attendant, when it is not on leave (it has happened ...)!

I recall that the contents of the famous "black box" has been specially created for Mouscron, under the gaze of the Director of Fine Arts and with all his encouragement! The staging was made entirely with its participation. There was therefore no surprise and a full agreement unambiguously from the organizer!

I am Belgian, born in Charleroi in 1947. My studies did anything artistic, I am a "nursery" of training. In 2001, I fill my free time with pencils and charcoal. around me drives me to continue and to put some color in my work. I make my first steps in self-taught watercolor watercolorist and a regional meeting to enlighten me some advice. But wanting to spend more personal achievements, I continued alone!

A couple of friends pushing me in 2004 to register for courses on "Workshops Mosans" Carole Dekeijser. Chez Carole do I have the drawing ... Study Perspective !!!!! "Shadows and Lights" Anatomy of the human body model with and without living "... In painting" work in acrylic "composition, figurative, the abstract. Off course I discovered the joy of letting go into automatic writing!

now flying on my own, I continued to paint in acrylics, my works are abstract, a choice that I had to courses being taken! I chose this mode of expression because personally I find the nature, animals, men so beautiful that I no longer allows me to reproduce! The abstract shall also helps put my feelings on canvas: my joys, my sorrows ... and if some of my paintings have no title is that I leave to those who look at the choice of interpretation. Thanks to all those which prompted me to continue and thank you to those who have agreed to share their knowledge, technique in this wonderful art of painting.

PATCHWORK AND ARTQUILT
In South Africa I started quilting in 1993. Trained in conventional techniques the influence of Africa where I spent most of my life has rapidly evolved my style into something different, a creative style which is reflected in Africa, its campaigns and traditional fabrics that have inspired choice of fabrics, colors and unique shapes. I participate in the art quilt movement whose techniques are constantly evolving. Now everything changes very quickly, I followed and continues to follow the course of international faculty: Pat Parker and Jenny Williamson, Odette Tolksdorf, Rosalie Dace, South Africa, Sue Wademan Australian Caryl Bryer Fallert, Linda Colsh Dale and Dena Crane, American, Jette Clover and Olga Prins Dutch Marianne Lorach, French, and many on-line training with Quilt University and Workshopontheweb. A continual discovery.
